Cheryl Lim
CFO · Financial Services, SingaporeThe AI Literacy program was not what I expected — in a good way. I'd attended other AI briefings that were essentially sales pitches dressed up as education. This was genuinely useful. Our leadership team came out of three weeks with a shared vocabulary and a clearer sense of what questions to ask vendors. Worth the time investment for a group of fifteen of us.

Head of Operations · InsuranceThe Speech AI Platform deployment took a week longer than initially estimated due to some acoustic environment challenges we hadn't anticipated. The team was upfront about this early and adjusted the timeline without changing the price. The system we ended up with has handled our call centre volume well and the multilingual processing is genuinely better than what we tested from larger vendors.

Head of Compliance · Legal FirmWe brought Synaptra in specifically because we needed responsible AI frameworks that would hold up to regulatory scrutiny — not theoretical guidelines that look good in a report but don't translate into how people actually work. What we got was precisely that. The bias testing protocols and the documentation templates are things our team actually uses in practice now, several months after the engagement ended.

Director of Strategy · Healthcare AdminWhat I most appreciated was that the scoping conversation was honest. When I described what I thought we needed, they pushed back on one element and suggested a more targeted approach that cost less. That kind of honesty is not common in consulting. The literacy program itself was tailored well to our team — which has a mix of clinical and administrative backgrounds.

CTO · Logistics & Supply ChainWe've worked with two other consultancies on AI-related projects before Synaptra. The difference is that here we dealt with the same people from start to finish — the ones who actually built the system. No handoffs, no re-explaining our situation. The speech processing for our warehouse communications use case works well within the acoustic constraints we have. Ongoing tuning has continued to improve accuracy.

VP People & Culture · Financial TechnologyWe commissioned the Responsible AI program specifically because we were getting pressure from an enterprise client to demonstrate governance practices around our hiring tools. The stakeholder communication protocols Synaptra developed turned out to be the piece our client found most compelling — clear, specific, and written in language that non-technical decision makers could evaluate. We've since rolled these out across other AI systems we use.
January 2025 · Responsible AI ProgramThree engagements, in detail.
Regional bank — executive AI literacy
A Singapore-headquartered bank with regional operations was preparing to evaluate AI vendor proposals for two significant projects. The leadership team felt unequipped to assess vendor claims or to ask the right questions in evaluation sessions.
Three-week AI Literacy program delivered for a group of 14 C-suite and senior managers. Sessions were structured around the bank's specific use cases, with exercises using realistic vendor materials. The final week focused on evaluation frameworks and what good due diligence looks like.
The team subsequently ran two AI vendor evaluation processes independently. The COO noted that they rejected one vendor proposal that they would likely have accepted before the program, based on concerns about data handling practices they now understood. The evaluation framework is used as a standard internal template.
Duration: 3 weeks · Q4 2024Insurance company — call centre analytics
A mid-size Singapore insurer was handling 3,000+ daily customer calls in English and Mandarin. Existing transcription tools produced poor accuracy on Singapore-accented speech and failed entirely on mixed-language interactions.
Seven-week Speech AI Platform engagement. Discovery phase revealed specific vocabulary clusters around insurance products and regulatory terminology that needed targeted training. Deployed a custom multilingual pipeline with speaker diarisation for quality monitoring, integrated with their CRM system.
Transcription accuracy for English calls reached 91%. Mixed-language calls — previously unusable — now achieve 83% usable accuracy. Quality monitoring team processes 40% more calls per analyst. Ongoing tuning has continued improving performance over six months post-deployment.
Duration: 7 weeks · Q3 2024Legal technology firm — AI governance
A Singapore legal tech company was using AI systems to assist with document review and contract analysis. An enterprise client had raised questions about explainability and potential bias in outputs. The company needed governance practices that could satisfy external scrutiny.
Nine-week Responsible AI Implementation Program. Bias testing protocols were developed for their specific NLP models. Model transparency documentation was created in a format readable by non-technical clients. Stakeholder communication templates addressed the specific questions their enterprise clients were asking.
The client renewed their enterprise contract following a governance review where Synaptra's documentation was presented directly. The legal tech firm has since used the frameworks for two additional AI systems. They've begun proactively sharing governance summaries with clients rather than waiting for questions.
